Lexis was raised in an environment of golfers which means she had no experience in the male-dominated game. At the young age of 12 she was the youngest participant to compete in the US Women's Open. The tournament was not won, however she became the second player in 2007 after being the winner of the Aldila Junior Classic. She was the smallest American Junior Golf Association player (AJGA) in addition to being the smallest player to have won the Westfield Junior PGA Championship at that time.
